Fast-forward to today’s digital era, the soundtrack is now complete with its intended tracklist. A limited run of the vinyl will be available on Record Store Day, June 12. Fans can also enjoy the Death Row Bandana Instagram filter that’s live today.
In addition, there will be SLAM co-branded limited edition merchandise dropping Friday at 12pm EDT, here., For 27 years and counting, SLAM has been the most authentic brand in basketball storytelling. What started as a magazine in 1994 has now grown into a global lifestyle brand and multimedia property with 20-plus social channels, a burgeoning merchandise division and multiple franchise events annually.
Brandon Squar, SVP of Sales and Marketing at Entertainment One says, “the ‘Above the Rim’ soundtrack has been a part of basketball culture and lifestyle since its original release in 1994. Death Row Records is proud to continue our 30th anniversary festivities by celebrating this classic music with new and loyal fans in innovative and exciting ways.”
The game’s technology was created by UK based boutique digital creative agency, Antoine Lock. In discussing the game, the agency shared, “dream come true to be honest! Death Row’s music was the backdrop of our early work and partying lives. So to work on a game to celebrate artists that we’ve been playing on repeat since the 90s is massive, and surreal.”
